TUMBLR WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY DASHBOARD

Okay I’m going to try to be constructive with my feedback. My immediate reaction was extreme discomfort, the empty space at the side of the page on desktop induces some kind of visceral anxiety in me. I can’t explain why but everything feels squished and cluttered to the eye. I don’t like that the buttons at the top vanish when I scroll, I think it’s far more accessible to have stationary buttons and to keep the most clicked icons (home, messages/activity, ask box, account) back in the top right. Maybe it’s bc im right handed (??) But I feel more comfortable having quick access to them on the right. At the moment it feels too crowded ;_;

The Ring: If I had a quarter for every time a hobbit picked me up, I’d have two quarters.
The Ring: Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Of all the bearers of Sauron’s ring, 4 of them were hobbits.

I was wrong. It’s 5. Not 4

The lineage of ring bearers is as follows.

  1. Sauron.
  2. Isildur
  3. Deagol
  4. Sméagol
  5. Bilbo
  6. Frodo
  7. Samwise

I love how Deagol counts as a ring bearer even though he had it in his possession for all of like five seconds

He held it for the rest of of his life!

[Image description: Tweet by @banalplay saying “but something happened then that the ring did not intend. it was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable: a hobbit, the same fuckin thing that just had it for like 500 years.” End Image Description.] Link to original here. Otherwise reblogging for the final rb there, which made me cackle.

From the ring’s perspective:

1. Home, the finger of my creator and other self.

2. Well, I don’t like it but I can work with this. Cause some trouble, get some revenge, find my way home, this is fine.

3. What the fuck is you?

4. Right personality, wrong species, I don’t know what you are but I hate you and I don’t know why you’re so resistant to my powers.

5. NO NO NO there are goblins everywhere how did I find another one of THESE horrible things. This one’s even more resistant than the last one and also disgustingly nice. I suffer.

6. Listen, I’ll cooperate, just get me the fuck out of this hellhole full of small cheerful people my power doesn’t work on properly. No, not like that. I hate you. Please stop.

7. FUCK

8. (Frodo again) I still hate you with every molecule of my mortal form but at least you’re not number seven. Think I’m starting to get through finally.

9. (Smeagol again) YES it’s you I actually missed you now get me back to the Master and NO FUCK NO I HATE YOOOOUUUUU…. *fzt*

CGI animators should unionize next. normally, their jobs would be too precarious to strike, since studios would replace them without a second thought, but if it’s part of this larger general film strike, they might finally have meaningful power to better their working conditions

if CGI animators unionized, it would kill the MCU. straight up. the the entire business model is built on exploiting CGI animators

THEY ARE TRYING!!!!! SIGN THE PETITION TO GET THE DISNEY ANIMATORS’ UNION RECOGNIZED

this petition is from IATSE (union), btw! it actually has credibility, unlike most change.org/etc petitions! please sign it!!

...what is the "sex is just rock climbing" category

Anonymous

runawaymarbles:

It was kind of a joke between me and a friend (“you wouldn’t judge someone for having gone rock climbing with a bunch of different people”) but honestly the more I thought about it the more I bought into it unironically because:

  • It is a physical activity done with one or more partners
  • You should only go rock climbing with people you trust not to let you fall
  • You should not go rock climbing with someone who is drunk or currently incapable of rational decision-making
  • Some people get super super super into rock climbing and do not shut up about all the places they have climbed and how many are left on their bucket list and these people are usually men between the ages of 20 and 35 and like it’s fine dude I’m glad you’re happy but I don’t know what most of those mountains even are
  • While many consider it a fun activity, pressuring someone into climbing when they don’t want to (or ignoring their feelings and just dangling them off a cliff,) could cause both psychological and physical trauma
  • There is no moral value to it whatsoever. Who you have gone rock climbing with (or whether you have rock climbed at all) has no bearing on who you are as a person. Imagine telling someone “it’s not that heights make you nauseous, it’s just that you haven’t found the right person to belay you!” or “you need to save your first time rock climbing for someone special.” That would be absurd.
  • historically I have not asked myself “will this aggravate my hip flexer injury” before participating when perhaps I should have 😔

Again: Piracy (ie. ROMs) is preservation. Piracy is archives. Piracy is art-affirming in a world which devalues and abandons art.https://t.co/4H2SbzpSaM — Srsly Wrong Podcast (@SrslyWrong) July 14, 2023ALT

I’m just gonna slide this on in here for anyone that is interested in preserving old games. They take it very seriously too, they want an archive of every single game. Like, they have lists of every game ever released for a system, and once that system gets old enough, they add it to their archive and start collecting. Their latest addition was the Xbox 360, they opened that vault up in September 2022, and proudly announced they’d finished their collection of games for it back in April.

Also, while their game archives are almost entirely complete, they’ve got another project of archiving the manuals that came with those games, and that is… considerably less well filled out. Their collection of Xbox 360 manuals is especially rough, they’ve only gotten manuals for three games. So if you’ve got some Xbox 360 games kicking around, and the manual’s still with them, please consider scanning them and submitting them to the site!

Game preservation is important, but people rarely consider preserving the manuals as well; I really respect Vimm’s Lair for being so thorough in their archival work.
